With the endorsement of such Marketing gurus like Mari Smith(@marismith) and Chris Brogan(@chrisbrogan), video marketing and its effectiveness is proving to be the new wave of email marketing and blogging. In Mari Smith’s most recent book,the New Relationship Marketing, she discusses the importance of adapting as technology changes, and with statistics like Youtube has, it’s hard to ignore. According to a January 2012 Time Magazine article, The Beast with a Million Eyes, For every minute that passes in real time, 60 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube and that number grows almost daily. Last year, we were at 48 hours of video every minute, just to put it into perspective.
Along with Mari Smith, there are several other marketing professionals that are known for their video marketing and effectiveness outreach efforts. One that comes to mind for me is Jeff Bullas (@jeffbullas). If you don’t already follow him or know of him, I recommend that you do. Not only does he have over 100,000 followers on Twitter, but he utilizes all other platforms very effectively to educate his followers in Social Media Marketing strategies and tips, including Youtube Videos.
This means of marketing is especially helpful to those who consider themselves more visual learners versus the traditional text reader. Even though there has been discussion negating ideas of “visual learners” existing, I also think that it is important to offer your reader several different ways to learn the same concepts or ideas. Some days, audio or video may be more appropriate based on the reader’s agenda for that day.
According to the Web Video Marketing Council, 81 percent of Marketers are already using online video, 52 percent are using video with email; 67 percent have posted to websites and 61 percent have posted videos to social media sites.
